Canadian tenor Pascal Charbonneau studied at McGill University in Montreal followed by advanced studies at the Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He was awarded the Oratorio/Lied prize at the 2004 Julian Gayarre International Singing Competition.

Notable engagements include David David et Jonathas at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Edinburgh International Festival, Opéra Comique and Brooklyn Academy of Music, Acis Acis and Galatea in Venice (La Fenice) and Aix-en-Provence, Händel’s Messiah with Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Jack Into the Woods, Medoro Orlando Paladino, Tobias Sweeney Todd and Freddy My Fair Lady at the Théâtre du Châtelet; Tobias Sweeney Todd with Münchner Rundfunkorchester and Vancouver Opera, Aljeja From the House of the Dead (Opera National du Rhin), Mozart's Requiem with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Paolino Il matrimonio segreto (Opéra de Rennes), Art Knight Crew (Glyndebourne), and Andriessen’s De Materie at the Park Avenue Armory, New York City.

Recent engagements include Castor Castor et Pollux (Opéra de Dijon & Opéra de Lille) with Emmanuelle Haïm, Aljeja From the House of the Dead (Royal Opera House‚ La Monnaie‚ Opéra de Lyon), Tamino Die Zauberflöte and Ziggy Starmania (Opéra de Quebec), Brighella Ariadne auf Naxos (Nationale Reisopera), Mozart’s Mass in C Minor (Orchestre de Chambre de Paris) with Roger Norrington, Mozart Requiem and Honegger's l'Aiglon (Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal).


He has also appeared as Jaquino Fidelio and Flute A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Garsington Opera)‚ Ziggy Starmania‚ Beppe I Pagliacci‚ Brighella Ariadne auf Naxos (Opéra de Montréal) and performed Janácek’s Diary of one who Vanished at the Aspen Music Festival. Other operatic roles include Don Ottavio‚ Tamino‚ Peter Quint‚ Jupiter Semele‚ Don Ramiro La Cenerentola and Gonzalve L’Heure espagnole.
